Signing of Standard Administrative Agreement between the Government of India and UNDP for the Ebola Response Multi Partner Trust Fund (MPTF)
 
 
 
 
The Government of India and the Multi-Partner Trust Fund (MPTF) office at the  United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed the Standard Administrative Arrangement (SAA) for the Secretary Generals's Ebola Response Multi Partner Trust Fund  today at the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations, New York. The Arrangment was signed by  H.E. Ambassador Asoke Kumar Mukerji, Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations  and Mr. Yannick Glemarec, Executive Coordinator, MPTF office of the UNDP . The United Nations System Response to the Ebola Outbreak was launched by the Secretary General in September 2014 to unite efforts of all concerned UN entities and act as a platform for global control of Ebola Outbreak. 
 
India had announced a contribution of US Dollars 10 million to the Secretary General of United Nations’ Ebola Multi Partner Trust Fund and had pledged assistance of an additional US Dollars 2 million for purchase of protective gear to tackle Ebola virus attack just prior to the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the General Debate of the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September 2014. The signing of the Arrangement within 3 months of the announcement by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India has paved the way for the transfer of the Indian contribution of USD 10 million to the Ebola Response Multi Partner Trust Fund.
 
In the current crisis created by the deadly Ebola virus attack in West Africa, India has earlier provided immediate financial assistance to three of the affected countries –Sierra Leone, Liberia and the Republic of Guinea for purchase of medical supplies and subsequently provided half a million US Dollars to the World Health Organization (WHO) to assist in the efforts of the international community to deal with this challenge.
 
India stands ready and committed to contribute to the ongoing efforts of the international community to address the threat posed by the bola virus.
