General Assembly Security Council
UNSC Arria formula meeting on “Neo-Nazism and Radical Nationalism-Exploring Root Causes of the crisis in Ukraine”

[Monday, 11 July 2022; 1500 hrs]

Approved Remarks

Thank you, Mr. Chair. We thank briefers for their insights.  I will be brief in my remarks.

2.    India remains deeply concerned over the situation in Ukraine. The conflict has resulted in loss of lives and countless miseries for its peoples, particularly for women, children and elderly, with millions becoming homeless and forced to take shelter in neighboring countries.

3.    From the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, India has been consistently calling for complete cessation of all hostilities and advocated the path of peace, dialogue and diplomacy. We support all efforts to alleviate the suffering of the people of Ukraine, especially talks between Ukraine and the Russian Federation. We believe that no solution can be arrived at the cost of innocent lives.

4.     It is in our collective interest to work constructively, both inside the United Nations and outside, towards seeking an early resolution to this conflict. We continue to reiterate that the global order is anchored on international law, UN Charter and respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty of states.

I thank you.
